Nagla Samir

Nagla Samir was born 1969, in Cairo, Egypt, where she currently lives and works.
She studied graphic design at the Faculty of Applied Arts, obtaining her BA in 1992.
She holds an MFA and Ph.D in visual communication.
After 10 years of practicing as a graphic designer thru to creative director, Nagla joined the art scene, parallel to her academic career as an Assistant Professor of art and design.
Her work falls within diverse disciplines; including photography, digital image, video and installation.

Nagla's work was shown at the Morocco art fair, and the Washington Design Center.

In 2006 Nagla started a parallel career as a culture operator, when she founded and directed Passage 35, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture in Egypt. She was appointed Director of the Sharjah Gallery at the American University in Cairo 2011. Currently operating independently.
