"What's Happening Now?" -the theme
proposed by curator of the show- sharpened
my senses, as I observed other participants
competing to upraise their statements as a
declaration of their own existence!
It was then that I decided to construct picket fence like walls covering the areas where I'd installed my art work, hanging small signs of verbal statements as index representation of what may be happening behind any wall.
It was not about my space, nor the invasion or infliction of my hidden thoughts.. It was an invitation for the viewers to practice their freedom of choice; either to pay physical effort to witness the work through the tiny cracks omitting light, or decide to pass the work installed in a rather congested loud chaotic ambiance for an art gallery.
"What's Happening Now" was exhibited 2008, The Palace of Art, Cairo, Egypt.
